I have been a Fellow and the Bursar of Darwin College since December 2014. As Bursar I have responsibility for the College’s finances and properties, combined with a general operational oversight role. I am the Director of Studies for the College’s LLM and MCL students. Other positions in the collegiate University which I have held or hold include: External member of the University Audit Committee (2011-14); member (2015- ) then chair (2018- ) of the intercollegiate Bursars’ Legal and Employment Affairs Sub-Committee; Chair of the Bursars’ Sustainability Sub-Committee (2020- ); member of the University Environmental Sustainability Strategy Committee (2020- ); member of the Council’s Committee for the Supervision of the Student Unions (2017-21); member of the Septemviri (2019 -22); member of the Bursars’ Business Committee (2020- ).
Prior to joining Darwin I was a lawyer practising in Cambridge, with experience in corporate finance, corporate and charity governance, and in management as the managing partner of a mid-size law firm (Hewitsons, 2004-2014). Throughout my career I have sought to make a contribution to our community in various voluntary and charitable positions, including for both state and independent schools, and civic organisations.
On Council I hope my skills experience and perspective may be of value generally but in particular in connection with governance issues, management and finance, and sustainability.
