I am the Hibbitt Professor of Solid Mechanics in the Department of Engineering and a Fellow of Jesus College. I joined the University in 2007; prior to this I studied and worked at universities in Australia, the Netherlands and the USA. My research interests centre around scientific computing, mathematical software and high-performance computing, and I am a strong advocate for open technologies in research.
As a member of University Council I aim to contribute to further developing Cambridge as a leading centre for education and research, promoting the translation of research in the University for wider social benefit, and to ensuring that the University operates in a financially and environmentally sound way that will allow it to prosper long into the future.
