Sofia Ropek Hewson is the elected President of the Graduate Union. Sofia recently completed her PhD in queer theory at Cambridge, which examined the work of contemporary writer, Paul B. Preciado. During her PhD, Sofia was Women’s Officer and President of Pembroke’s Graduate Parlour, President of Pembroke Papers and Vice President of CamMACT. Over the last five years, Sofia has run conferences on feminism, social justice and academia, digital communities, and teaching modern languages. This year, Sofia is particularly interested in working on postgraduate mental health, postgraduate widening participation and gender equality across the University.
