Manucha (Maria Manuel) Lisboa is Professor of Portuguese Literature and Culture in the Faculty of MMLL and is a Fellow of St. John’s College. Her teaching has always covered a broad range of countries and periods across the Portuguese-speaking world (in particular Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique and Angola).
Her research has focused on Portuguese and Brazilian literature from the nineteenth century to the present, and the visual works of Paula Rego. She is the author of seven monographs and some sixty articles, as well as some translations of literary works from Portuguese to English.
She has supervised research students working on Portugal, Brazil and Mozambique.
